Mayor's History Question Winner TTR #84
Congratulations to James Thompson, age 12. A seventh grader, who is homeschooled here in Taneytown. He is the winner of the Mayor's History Question in the most recent issue #84 of the Taneytown Record.
This issue's question was: QUESTION: During the Civil War, Taneytown stood as the gateway to Gettysburg. Many of Taneytown's young men fought in this conflict. One famous resident has emerged as a bonifide war hero who is a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. Who was that man and where is he buried?
James answered: Sgt Buffington received the Medal of Honor as SGT. BUFFINGTON, but ended his military career as LT. BUFFINGTON.
This was the first correct answer that the Mayor received in accordance with the rules of the contest. Thank you for all the responses!
