Currently, the program has 46 banners.  The light posts on Baltimore St. will be filled and we are going to place the additions banners on Divern Street and continue on Bancroft St.  There is still time to get a banner for your spouse, parent or other relative that has served.  Follow this link for information how you can get a banner.

This program was created to pay tribute to the brave men and women who are serving, have served, or have given their life in the line of duty while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Hesson-Snider American Legion Auxiliary Unit 120 and the City of Taneytown are participating in the Military Banner Program.  This program is designed to honor any active, retired or deceased military personnel who live, have lived or who may still have family members residing in the 21787 and 21757 zip code areas.
Banners with the Veteran’s photo and branch of service will be displayed on the light post along East and West Baltimore Streets, Frederick Street and York Street during the months of May(for Memorial Day) and November ( for Veterans Day), honoring their service to our country.
The individual to be recognized must reside, have resided or have family still residing in 21787 or 21757 zip code areas. The individual must have served in any of the following branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp and Coast Guard) and must also meet the following conditions:
- Currently an active service member
- Be an honorably discharged veteran
- Died in the line of duty
The initial cost per banner is $100.00 for production, installation and removal of the banner and may be sponsored by friends, family, a business or an organization.  The banners will be stored with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 120 and will be re-displayed the following year. If the Veteran or family member does not want it re-displayed the following year, the banner will be returned to them.
Sponsorship for a specific veteran/family and donations to support this program can be made with cash or checks made payable to The Military Banner Program, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 120 and mailed to:
