She is the winner of the Mayor's History Question in the most recent issue #91 of the Taneytown Record.
Longtime Taneytown resident, Ralph Kelly served in North Africa, Sicily and participated in the Omaha Beach invasion on D-Day and the Battle of Bulge during WWII. During his three and half years with the Big Red One, he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and two Silver Stars.
Question: He was given a nickname by his fellow infantrymen, what was that nickname? (Thanks to David Buie for this issue's question)
McKayla's answer was: Ralph Kelly’s nickname was commando.
